    Professional Background:

Damian Beard is an Associate Financial Planner at Syverson Strege. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Eastern New Mexico University. He has worked in financial services for more than 10 years in roles ranging from mortgage loan officer to financial advisor. Having previously worked for two of the largest U.S. banks and the largest Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), Damian loves being a part of a local firm family where he can blend his passion for finance with helping clients achieve their financial goals.

    Personal:

My grandfather introduced me to the concept of investing as a teenager. A long-time Warren Buffett and Jack Bogle fan, he encouraged me to read books including "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham and "A Random Walk Down Wall Street" by Burton Malkiel. My love for helping others with personal finance led to teaching Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University classes as a young adult and ultimately joining the financial planning profession.

My wife Janice and I have two children, Ellie and Beckham. Between managing our busy family schedule, Janice somehow finds time to operate STEAM STARZ, an educational enrichment company introducing science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics to young students. We live in West Des Moines and attend Valley Church. In my free time, I enjoy playing disc golf or pickleball, fishing, and taking long bike rides with my family.

I’m also the executive director of Holding Tiny Hands Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families with newborns in the NICU. Having had two premature babies of our own, we know firsthand the trials and tribulations of the NICU, and we love supporting and giving back to others on that journey.
