- I love to crochet. I have been doing this since 2021 and love learning to crochet new items.
- I was awarded Iowa FBLA Adviser of the Year in 2016 and represented Iowa in the parade of states at the National Leadership Conference in Atlanta.
- I help lead a book club that a friend and I started more than four years ago.

Shannon Smith received her first degree from Drake University in 2006 in Accounting/Management. After working for a year in accounting, she decided to go back to earn her degree in Secondary Education from the University of Northern Iowa. She graduated with her degree in Business and Social Studies education in 2009. Shannon worked as a business teacher until May 2024. Her favorite class to teach was personal finance to students in grades 9-12. She also reactivated and served as adviser of the Creston High School FBLA for the past 14 years, helping hundreds of students learn more about business and gain professional skills by competing across the state and nation. Shannon worked in a temporary position at Syverson Strege in the summer of 2022 and enjoyed the people and environment so much, she decided to return as a Client Service Associate (CSA) when the opportunity arose.
Personal:
I was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In my free time, I enjoy reading, crafting, and traveling with my mom and friends. I also spend a lot of time with my Cavachon (half Bichon, half Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) named Harry. I plan to stay involved in Future Business Leaders of America at the state level, as my schedule allows.
